Terms of Reference: Senior Fundraising Strategist

Transform Health is looking for a Senior Fundraising Strategist to support the coalition to secure core funding for its growth and development over the next five years. The ideal candidate will have a track record of consistent annual fundraising results, including for policy and advocacy initiatives, a strong existing and relevant network, and a passion for helping organisations build new relationships, raise more revenue and increase their impact. The Senior Fundraising Strategist  will play a critical role within Transform Health shaping the fundraising and outreach strategy to secure new partnerships with institutional donors, trusts and foundations and strategic corporate partners. 

The ideal candidate will be expected to assess the coalitions, programmes and initiatives, develop a fundraising strategy, identify  fundraising opportunities, support the development of key donor relationships and ensure the delivery of ambitious income targets.

As Senior Fundraising Strategist you will work within a matrix management structure  with colleagues based in Senegal, Kenya, India, Indonesia, Mexico and Ecuador, as well as with other members of the secretariat team.

Responsibilities

  • Review the current institutional programme portfolio and develop the fundraising strategy, focused on securing funding from institutional donors, trusts and foundations, and corporate partners aligned with Transform Health’s core programmatic areas.
  • Review and further develop the systems and processes used for prospect and donor management, including building out the CRM platform, prospect research, compliance, donor engagement, proposition development and reporting.
  • Work independently to develop the current pipeline of high-net-worth individual and institutional donor prospects, leveraging existing leads and converting new leads into high-value relationships for Transform Health.
  • Operate as an active and effective member of the Transform Health  Team, collaborating with colleagues to identify and respond to funding opportunities.

 

Deliverables within the first six months

  • An internal review of Transform Health’s business development processes and systems. 
  • A fundraising strategy that includes institutional philanthropy, development agencies and multilaterals, and private sector and tech partners. Explore other funding sources such as impact sponsorship packages (tied to Digital Health Week), individual giving (i.e. a giving board) etc. 
  • A 12-month Fundraising Roadmap that includes aspects such as unified fundraising pitches segmented by donor type, launch digital impact storytelling assets, submit proposals to priority foundations and  respond to multilateral and donor funding calls, a fundraising board strategy including identification of prospective members, roll out of country coalition funding calls/calls for proposals, corporate partnership outreach, donor/fundraising events and dinners, publish annual fundraising impact report (tied to our annual report). 
  • Updating the existing fundraising pipeline.
  • Review existing business development assets and update these as appropriate (pitch, deck, key messaging  etc)
  • Secure at least three new business development leads for Transform Health.  

 

Qualifications

  • 10-15 years of relevant fundraising experience with steadily increasing scope and complexity.
  • Clear track record of building fundraising operations in new markets.
  • Consistent fundraising results, including for policy and advocacy work, over the past five years.
  • Experience independently managing the full fundraising cycle, from prospecting to stewardship, with support from writing and finance teams.
  • Strong networks within the philanthropic community. 
  • Experience in international development/social impact sectors with a strong understanding/wider awareness of outcome based fundraising models.
  • An agile approach/”test and learn” mentality to adapt approaches/pivot activity as necessary within a dynamic environment and shifting donor priorities.
  • Strong relationship manager, with expertise of engaging a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders (including high-value funders and in-country teams).

 

Renumeration

The range for this consultancy is between $500-600 in daily rate for 10 days per month for six months. The rate will be determined based on length and relevance of  experience. There is a possibility that this consultancy will be extended based on satisfactory completion of deliverables in the first 6 months.
