Artificial intelligence and digital technologies – and the data they consume and generate – hold extraordinary promise for health. But realising that promise equitably and responsibly demands strong legislative and regulatory frameworks to safeguard data privacy and rights, enable responsible data use for public benefit, uphold data sovereignty, and earn public trust. Without such frameworks, transparency and accountability suffer, and confidence in these systems erodes.
Transform Health is calling for more robust national laws to provide clear rules around the collection and use of health data and AI, alongside regional and global frameworks to be endorsed by governments to promote coherence through shared principles and legislative standards – enabling responsible data use within and across borders.
Transform Health is leading efforts to strengthen health data governance at national, regional and global levels through advocacy, technical support, developing tools and resources, mobilising communities and fostering collaboration and action.
